Halloween! For parents of young children, it’s an adorable holiday with cute costumes and happy little toddlers galore. For parents of older kids, though, it can get to be kind of a… grind. Ten-year-olds hopped up of sugar, racing from house to house and forgetting their manners, empty homes getting covered in toilet paper, and random acts of pumpkin-smashing can really wear a parent down. That’s why many wizened parents look to organized activities, like parties and theme parks, to fill their children’s Halloween desires. Kidding Around in Wine Country

Our little family of four routinely goes on family vacations. And by family vacations, I mean, “visiting family” vacations. Like many families living in Silicon Valley, my husband and I grew up outside of the Bay Area. We spend the majority of our vacation time visiting our families up north in Oregon, down south in LA and back east in Pennsylvania. Our kids recently had a Friday off, so we decided to spend the long weekend up in Wine Country relaxing with the kids.
