In the fall 2008, San Francisco’s California Academy of Sciences re-opened it’s new doors in Golden Gate Park. Touted as one of the largest museums in the world, children from all over come to marvel at its glorious exhibits and inhabitants day after day. My kid’s count themselves as some of the lucky ones who are able to visit this place on a regular basis. Regardless if you live here or if you’re visiting from out of town, The Academy is a great place to take the kids on a cold or rainy day.

New Year’s Eve with the kids is always a hit or miss for us. Staying up till midnight is somewhat unrealistic when you have small children, but that doesn’t mean parents shouldn’t ring in the New Year in-style. Over the years, our family has sometimes ignored New Year’s Eve completely, some years we’ve gone all out and thrown parties and some years we’ve ventured into the city and celebrated “First Night.”

Like many adults, my husband and I can’t get enough museums. When we travel, we drag our kids to as many art museums, science museums and natural museums as we can find.  Sometimes, it’s a great experience for the whole family. Other times, not so much.
