Family Ski Trips on a Budget
Family ski vacations can be a really good time, but the cost can make you dizzy sometimes. For what you can spend on accommodations, lift tickets, lessons, equipment rental, gear and meals, you could easily get a nice used car.
Booking early and going off-peak can help lower costs. So can skiing close to home. Better yet, book an extended stay at one of these Homewood Suites and shave a little off your dining budget as well.
Homewood Suites Salt Lake City/Midvale
844 E. North Union Ave., Midvale, Utah
Enjoy easy access to downtown Salt Lake City just 20-30 minutes from seven major ski resorts including Park City. Don’t want to drive? Take the UTA ski bus that picks up right in front of the hotel. That indoor heated pool will really hit the spot, as will free breakfast daily and dinner four times a week.
Homewood Suites Harrisburg-West Hershey
5001 Ritter Road, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania
Come for the chocolate, stay for the…skiing? That’s right! Don’t limit yourself to just snow sports. In this location you can tour Hershey Park, visit the National Civil War Museum, gamble a little at the Hollywood Casino, and still ski and go snow tubing at nearby Ski Roundtop.
375 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, New Jersey
Campgaw Ski Mountain is the closest ski resort to New York City and just 10 minutes away from the Homewood Suites Mahwah in nearby New Jersey. The resort offers night skiing too. So you can sightsee all day and ski all night if you want to, though I’m not sure why you would.
Homewood Suites Manchester Airport
1000 Perimeter Road, Manchester, New Hampshire
You’ll be just minutes from McIntyre Ski Area, which offers skiing, boarding and tubing as well as lessons for all ages. If it’s too cold and stormy to ski, you can always warm yourself at the nearby Mall of New Hampshire instead. If you don’t mind commuting an hour to the slopes, you could stay on the charming New England coast at the Homewood Suites Portsmouth instead.
