Where to find the season’s most delicious holiday treats

BY Lisa McElroy of suiteliving.com

If you’re traveling for the holidays this year – or even if you’re not – adding something sweet to the holiday preparations is probably feeling pretty darn essential around now.

Not much of a home cook? No worries! We at SuiteTrip have rounded up the best holiday dessert options from across the country.

Gingerbread

No Christmas is complete without gingerbread cookies. For a taste of Whoopi Goldberg’s favorite, head to Newport Beach, California and bite the heads of gingerbread men at the Wonderland Bakery. If you’re celebrating in our nation’s capital, get marvelous spicy treats at (you guessed it!) Marvelous Market.

Christmas cookies

If you’re in Dallas, Pokey O’s wins the native vote for best cookies – and they have a huge selection! In San Francisco, have tea at Teacake Bake Shop and indulge in elegant, sugared cut outs. And in Philadelphia, it’s all about the Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, where you can stick with chocolate chip or order a decorated assortment.

Rugelach

Love the flaky, cream cheese and nut sweetness of rugelach? Head to Zimmerman’s in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a mecca for deli lovers. Want to fly south for the winter, like Lewis the Duck? Hit Miami Beach and the Epicure Market.

Egg nog

New Yorkers rave about the nog at Pete’s Waterfront Ale House, which has locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan, while Chicago natives can’t live without the rich, creamy drink at Delightful Pastries.

Hot chocolate

Café Fleuri at the Langham Hotel in Boston serves up hot chocolate in its chocolate bar, where Santa will be a guest on selected dates this Christmas. And where better to get a cup than the home of all things chocolate, Hersheypark, the sweetest place on earth? Celebrate at the theme park’s Christmas Candylane event – you won’t regret it!
